Violation: Former Executive Director with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, may have violated the Ethics in Public Service Act by being involved with the negotiations of a contract while employed with the Lieutenant Governor’s Office and then accepting a position with the same entity after leaving state service.

Result: An agreed Stipulation and Order was entered on March 14, 2022 imposing a civil penalty in the amount of $750.

1997-017 AND 1997-026 Office of the Lieutenant Governor

Violation: Lieutenant Governor violated RCW 42.52.180 when he used and authorized the use of his office, directly and indirectly, for the purpose of assisting a campaign in opposition to a ballot proposition.

Result: Settlement approved on December 21, 1998 for investigative costs in the amount of $7,000.* The Board also issued a Letter of Direction.||*Note that Case # 97-17 and 97-26 are combined.

2012-055 Office of the Lieutenant Governor

Violation: The Lieutenant Governor may have violated the Ethics in Public Service Act when they used state resources and staff to support a non-profit organization that they established and for which they were the acting president during all relevant time periods.

Result: Settlement approved on September 12, 2014 for a civil penalty of $15,000 with $5,000 suspended.
