Violation: An Edmonds Community College employee may have violated the Ethics in Public Service Act when they used their state position to secure a personal benefit and accepted gratuities from an instructor under their supervision and employed a person from whom they received a personal benefit.

Result: Settlement approved on March 13, 1998 for a Civil penalty in the amount of $1,200.

1999-013 Edmonds Community College

Violation: An Edmonds Community College employee may have violated the Ethics in Public Service Act when they allowed a private citizen to rent state facilities at a reduced rate which was unavailable to the general public and allowed the same private citizen to use state supplies at no cost.

Result: Settlement approved on April 20, 2001 for a Civil penalty in the amount of $3,000 with $1,000 suspended.

1999-014 Edmonds Community College

Violation: An Edmonds Community College employee may have violated the Ethics in Public Service Act when they improperly scheduled the use of state resources for their spouse's business, sent an invoice on agency letterhead to a private company on behalf of their spouse's business and continued to allow their spouse to rent state facilities at a reduced rate that was unavailable to the public.

Result: Settlement approved on June 8, 2001 for a Civil penalty in the amount of $4,000 with $1,500 suspended and an additional $4,000 charitable contribution to a scholarship fund at the College.

2020-039 Edmonds Community College

Violation: Faculty member with Edmonds Community College violated RCW 42.52.160 when they used state resources to promote and support their outside business and RCW 42.52.070 by taking advantage of their position at Edmonds to secure special privilege for themselves and their outside business.

Result: A Final Order was issued on February 1, 2022 imposing a civil penalty of $5,000.

2020-040 Edmonds Community College

Violation: An Edmonds Community College faculty member used state resources to promote and support their outside business. Evidence indicated that state time and computer resources were used to support an outside business to include voicemail, and a state email account to send both business and personal emails.

Result: A Motion for Summary Judgment was held on December 10, 2021 and a Final Order was issued imposing a civil penalty of $5,500.
