Violation: An Administrative Support Manager for the Office of Minority and Women's Business Enterprises violated RCW 42.52.070 when she used her position to provide a special privilege to family members. Evidence indicated that she suggested the agency adopt a family for the holidays but following the collection of money and gifts and delivery to the _family in need_, agency staff found out that the family was the manager's son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

Result: Settlement approved on September 14, 2012 for a civil penalty of $2,500.
