2009-011 Community Colleges of Spokane

Violation: A manager of the Community Colleges of Spokane Employee Compensation and Accounts Payable Division, violated RCW 42.52.160 when he stored personal documents relating to outside business ventures on his state computer, and used his state computer to send and receive non-work-related emails.

Result: A settlement was agreed to on May 14, 2010 for a civil penalty of $1,000.

2001-058 through 2001-076 (except 2001-063 and 068) Community Colleges of Spokane

Violation: Faculty at Community Colleges of Spokane violated RCW 42.52.160 when they sent emails to a State Representative advocating support for better teacher salaries.

Result: Settlements approved between September, 2002 and January, 2003 with penalties ranging from $25 to $50 depending on the size and number of emails sent by indivisual faculty members. The Board also issued Letters of Instruction to the faculty members.
